M152 |
Percent of the state’s population who live within 50 miles of a trauma center, including out-of-state centers |
The measure indicates access to advanced trauma care at a Level I or II designation. In general, trauma centers are regional resources essential to assist in the management and rehabilitation of patients with injuries from various types of emergencies and disasters. A Level I Trauma Center is capable of providing the most complex care for severe injuries. A Level II Trauma Center can initiate definitive care for all injuries, but may need to transport complex cases to Level I facilities to complete treatment. |
