Findings are as follows: Surveyor observations on 2/5/2019 at 8:28 AM and 2/7/2019 at 8:03 AM revealed Staff Nurse A administer an insulin injection to Resident ID#101 who was sitting in the common area with approximately 18 residents present in the room. The nurse lifted the resident's clothing and administered the injection into Resident ID#101's thigh on both occasions. Record review for Resident ID#101 revealed [DIAGNOSES REDACTED]. A 1/25/2019 quarterly Brief Interview for Mental Status score of 3 out of 15, indicating severe cognitive impairment. The Medication Administration Record [REDACTED]. During surveyor interviews with Staff Nurse A on 2/5/2019 at 8:50 AM and 2/7/2019 at 8:29 AM, she revealed she administers insulin to Resident ID#101 in the common area. During a surveyor interview with the Assistant Director of Nursing Services on 2/7/2019 at 9:25 AM, she revealed that privacy should be provided when administering injections and that the resident's dignity must be maintained. | 2020-09-01 |
