Failure to follow appropriate infection control practice related to disinfecting equipment may result in the spread of infection within the facility. Findings include: Review of the policy titled Transmission Based Precautions occurred on 06/28/18. This policy, dated (MONTH) 2013, stated, . Patient Care Equipment . Clean and disinfect equipment between patients. Review of Resident #6's medical record on 06/26/18 indicated the resident was on contact precautions due to [MEDICAL CONDITION]-resistant Staphylococcus aureus in the resident's abdominal wound. Observation on 06/26/18 at 2:10 p.m. showed two Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) (#4 and #5) removed a Hoyer Lift from Resident #6's room and placed it across the hall in the equipment room. The CNAs failed to disinfect the lift prior to the next use. During an interview on 06/26/18 at 2:15 p.m. with two CNAs (#4 and #5), they stated staff disinfect lifts daily. During an interview on 06/28/18 at 3:20 p.m., an administrative nurse (#6) stated she expected staff to disinfect lifts after every use when used on a resident on contact precautions. | 2020-09-01 |
